ASUS MeMO Pad 7 LTE tablet: A super tool for Intel's Family Skill Swap and more
Chances are your grandchildren know a whole lot more than you. At least about some high-tech gadgets and games and such.
You know a whole lot more than them, though, on other skills. Things like handicrafts and cooking crafts, playing musical instruments and more.
Considering the wealth of knowledge on their part and yours—albeit in different areas—how cool might it be to swap some of that knowledge, share those skills? Intel encourages grandparents to do exactly that by inviting a favorite youngster to swap skills between the generations.
Intel created an invitation for such swapping, something they call a Family Skill Swap. It looks like this:
Click on that graphic for a PDF version you can print and pass along to a grandchild or two... or more. Intel also created a list of ideas to help settle on what skills you and yours might swap. Click on the graphic below for that list, then complete your invitation and set out to swap some skills between the generations.
When you and yours have completed the swapping of skills, reward one another with the following badge from Intel (click the graphic for a printable badge):
The Intel Family Skill Swap may seem like an activity exclusive to grandparents and grandchildren who live near one another, those who can physically be together for sharing their vast knowledge and abilities. Not true!
Long-distance grandparents and grandkids can use technology to share pictures of their skills and swapping of them. Or schedule a Skype session for the swapping in real time. Perhaps considering simply emailing instructions and a few photos to one another, too.
Most any smartphone, tablet, or Android device would work well for such swaps, but I was given the opportunity to receive free for review an ASUS MeMO Pad 7 LTE tablet to try out in consideration of the Intel Family Skill Swap.
What a grand swapping machine the MeMO Pad is! The little tablet has so much fun and function in a small, manageable device (10.5 ounces and 7.7 inches by 4.3).

What did I love most about the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 LTE Tablet? Everything. But here are a few of my favorite features:
The numerous camera options as well as the high quality of the pics regardless of mode or filter:
I particularly enjoy the GIF Animation mode and two mentioned in specs: Time Rewind that takes several pics within seconds and you choose the best, and the Selfie mode in which you choose the number of faces to detect and the camera does the rest.
The numerous ways in which the MeMO Pad can be personalized... and shared with other users:
The many preloaded and easily accessible applications and help options (more apps can be added via Google Play):
The super cool Super Note application for taking multimedia notes with audio, photos, time stamps, silly stamps and much, much more.
The Polaris office suite for accessing Microsoft Office documents on the go:
And silly as it may seem, I was happy to see there was a Mirror app:
Not that I'm continually checking out myself; I just thought it was a fun addition to the tablet, one my grandsons will enjoy, no doubt.
Other impressive features: The battery lasts a long time. The pictures are fantastic. Connecting to my favorite social media networks was a breeze. The screen is large and clear (and the brightness easily adjustable). The sound is crisp. The menus and applications are easy to navigate. Wi-fi connection was the easiest of any device I've used.
Plus, there's a whole lot more that's pretty darn great about the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 LTE, all of which you can see—much of it in videos—on the AT&T MeMO Pad 7 product page.
I was quite impressed with the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 LTE and plan to use mine regularly regardless of other devices I have—especially when I set out to swap some of my photography skills with my grandsons. Perhaps they'll swap their impressive Wii University skills with me in exchange.
Disclosure: I received this product free for review; opinions and anecdotes are my own.
