Compassion trumps fluff plus GRAND Social No. 117 link party
Compassion trumps fluff
I originally planned to kick off today's post with some happy, fluffy stuff. For instance, pointing out that my return to publishing a Saturday Movie Review was quite well received, so much so that even Oprah read my thoughts on THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY... and tweeted to me after reading (<<click those words to see her tweet to me).
But then compassion trumped fluff, and I felt compelled to add the following.
I never get political (or religious, for that matter) here on Grandma's Briefs, for those topics are so darn divisive. But I don't consider the following a political issue; I consider it a humanitarian one. And I consider it one I must say something about.
See, I simply cannot get off my mind and my heart the sickening horrors many folks in Iraq are facing at the hands of ISIS. There's nothing we can do from here except keep them all in our thoughts and prayers in hopes there will soon be an end to the insanity. I hope sharing the following video will serve as a reminder to do that.
This is one of the more tame videos on the situation that I've come across, yet it's still difficult to watch. It's far more difficult to endure, though, for those poor children, women and men.
Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
GRAND Social No. 117
How it works:
- All grandparent bloggers are invited to add a link. You don't have to blog about grandparenting, just be a grandparent who blogs.
- To link up a post, copy the direct URL to the specific post — new or old — that you want to share, not the link to your blog's home page. Then click the blue button below marked "Add your link" and follow the directions.
- You can add up to three posts, but no duplicates, contests, giveaways, or Etsy sites, please.
- Adding a mention such as This post linked to the GRAND Social to your linked posts is appreciated. Or, you can post the GRAND Social button anywhere on your page using the following code:
- The GRAND Social linky accepts posts through Wednesday evening, so please come back to see those added after your first visit.
- If you're not a blogger, you have the pleasure of being a reader. Those sharing a link would be honored to have you visit, read and, if so moved, leave a comment even if just "Hey, stopping by from the GRAND Social." Bloggers who link are encouraged to visit and comment on the links of other bloggers, as well.
