Here and Now: February 19, 2015
My friend Lois, blogger extraordinaire at Midlife At The Oasis, recently started a new feature on her site, called currently. Because I think it's a nifty idea for a feature—and because I'm a copycat—I'm going to do something similar every Thursday here on Grandma's Briefs.
With that in mind, welcome to my first "Here and Now" feature in which I share with you what's happening in my life right here and now. I hope in the comments you'll share a bit of what's happening in yours.
On my mind...
Like everyone else, ISIS and its horrendous, senseless deeds. It's always there, in the back (or forefront) of my heart and mind.
Reading...
"The Dream Lover: A Novel of George Sand" by Elizabeth Berg. I typically love Elizabeth Berg. I even waited in line for hours once to get her autograph on my worn paperback copy of "Talk Before Sleep." I'm having trouble getting into this one, though. She's tried something a different—a historical novel. So far I don't care for it... but will keep reading a bit further before moving on to something else. (I don't force myself to read everything I start. There are far too many books waiting to be read for me to waste time on something I don't enjoy or appreciate.)
Watching...
The Slap on NBC. This promises to be family drama at its finest—as well as most dysfunctional. Great cast: Peter Sarsgaard, Uma Thurman, Melissa George, Zachary Quinto, Thandie Newton, Brian Cox... and more. It's on tonight. Have you seen it? Check it out.
Working on...
Well, I should be working on my taxes but keep procrastinating on downloading Turbo Tax. I have a new box of hair color awaiting me for once I'm finished as I'm sure my hair will be fully gray by the time I'm done.
Listening to...
Classic Rock Replay on 1.FM Internet Radio. Most of the time. I occasionally flip my Q2 Wi-Fi Radio over to pop that's easier to sing along to.
Looking forward to...
The Oscars on Sunday. I've not seen as many of the nominated movies as I have in past years, but it's still like the Super Bowl to me—must-see TV.
The last photo I took...
(On my phone) I recently started eating chia seeds and have been singing the praises to Brianna and Andrea (Megan's the one who turned me on to them). Do you know how great those little seeds are? Google them and you'll see. Anyway, my last photo was of my breakfast the other day, which I texted to my girls to show how yummy my Greek yogurt with strawberries and chia seeds looked. Yes, I'm that person who takes photos of her food...sometimes.
Today's question:
What's going on here and now for you?
