Here and now: July 2, 2015
The "I can't believe it's already July!" issue...
On my mind...
Fireworks. And my concerns that they're legal where my grandkids live. My daughter, son-in-law, and the kiddos love celebrating the Fourth with a bang. I hate the idea of that. Call me a party pooper, if you must.
Reading...
Most recently, this letter from Erick, the Compassion International child Jim and I have sponsored since he was five (he's now sixteen!).
I'm happy that included with the letter was information on the Compassion International smartphone app because snail mail is exceptionally snailish when there's a translator in the middle. As you can see at the top of the letter, Erick sent it May 20; it arrived at my house yesterday.
Watched...
This movie. I wish I could get back the 94 minutes I spent on it.
I didn't hate it, but there sure are plenty of more enjoyable ways I could have used that time.
Working on...
Trying to get the hang of hopping right on assignments offered up daily by The Mix, a writing platform for numerous Hearst magazines (Good Housekeeping, Woman's Day, Esquire and more) I was recently accepted into. Each day they publish a list of essay topics they want covered, and writers have two days to get the job done and submitted. Seems a first come, first serve (accepted and paid for) sort of deal, and I've not been quick enough on the draw with the couple I've been interested in so far. Wish me luck!
Looking forward to...
A bike ride with Jim tomorrow. Wish me luck on that, too. Last time we went was last summer, before my MS went all wacko on me.
The last photo I took...
On my phone is this—a Shari's Berries birthday gift from my grandsons, Megan, and Preston that arrived last Friday.
I ate the last one yesterday. Yum!
Best wishes to all for a safe and spectacular Fourth of July weekend!
Today's question:
What are the highs and lows of your here and now?
