Here and Now: March 12, 2015

Today. Here. Now.

clock and book

On my mind...

Does anyone else ever "save" articles and posts on Facebook (via the little "save" option in the upper right corner of each post) planning to read it later only to realize your saved articles list has reached an overwhelming length? You, too?

I won't "archive" the articles, though, for I just know they all are articles I absolutely must read. You, too?

Reading...

I'm a few chapters into an advance copy of "At the Water's Edge" by Sara Gruen, author of "Water for Elephants." (It publishes March 31.) Thoughts so far? Hmmm... not sure yet, but Goodreads notes, "Think Scottish Downton Abbey." Yeah, I can agree with that so far.

Watching...

The Voice. Because of musical moments such as this:

Working on...

Trying to remember to track my calories in the Lose It! app as I eat rather than playing catch up at the end of the evening, when I need to send my email report to Brianna. She's doing really well at staying on track AND reporting to me daily, as we agreed. I, on the other hand, am kind of sucking on both counts.

Listening to...

Mickey's tummy making grumbly noises as he sleeps on the rug near my desk.

Looking forward to...

...witnessing my good friend Ruth Curran of Cranium Crunches reap the rewards of her hard work. Ruth published the Kindle edition of her book "Being Brain Healthy: What my recovery from brain injury taught me and how it can change your life" this week, with the "real" edition, as Ruth calls the print version, available via CreateSpace (neither are affiliate links). Ruth learned the hard way—through traumatic brain injury due to a car accident—what it takes to get your brain healthy and keep it healthy.

Ruth's the real thing; her techniques have helped me with some cognitive issues related to MS. You certainly don't need a brain injury or cognitive issue to work on beefing up your brain, though. Ruth's techniques are not only simple, they're effective. Best wishes for huge success to Ruth and her #BeingBrainHealthy initiative!

The last photo I took...

(On my phone) A picture of a picture in a photo album my friend Mel brought to share with our slumber party gang.

first photo together

So bizarre to stumble across that picture—one I'd never seen before—among the others in her album. It's the first photo of us together as a couple; we were just on the brink of beginning to date. (Such rock-n-roll hair my future hubby had, don't you think!?) Thanks for sharing, Mel!

Today's question:

What's up in your here and now?
