Oh, the places you'll go... with AARP discounts
It's Throwback Thursday, and today I'm going to go way, way back to... last Thursday.
Last Thursday I was in Boston, courtesy a generous invitation from AARP Member Advantages. I was invited to learn about all the places you can go and all that you can do — at a discount — if you're an AARP member.
I learned a lot about the discounts and perks for AARP members. Below are a few of the highlights.
With an AARP card in hand, members can...
Plan trips of any and every sort with Liberty Travel. Real, live travel agents (not computers!), 24/7 service, discounts, packages from car trips to cruises and everything in between. What more could travelers ask for?
Relax at Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. Save up to 20 percent at their more than 100 properties.
Cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line. Discounts on cruises, packages, world-class entertainment and food, out-of-this-world ships, programs for teens and too much more to list. Yep, that's what they offer.
Fly with British Airways. Going to Europe, Asia, Middle East or Africa? They serve more than 110 cities, and AARP members can save up to $400.
Rent a vehicle with Avis Budget Group. Savings of 10 to 25 percent on all vehicles, free upgrades, additional driver fee waived, roadside assistance and more.
Get zippy with a ZipCar. A new and oh so awesome car sharing service for those who need a car — or second car — only occasionally. You must check out the site to understand (and see if it's in your city). AARP members save 33 percent on the service. And like ZipCar says: "Car sharing beats the heck outta car ownership."
Feel confident about car repairs with RepairPal. Don't get taken by a mechanic ever again. Save 10 percent on auto repairs, up to $50, on services from RepairPal’s nationwide network of more than 500 certified auto repair shops.
Eat at Denny's for less. Save 15 percent off your check. All day. Every day.
Grab a free donut from Dunkin' Donuts. Show your card, order a large or extra-large beverage and they'll give ya a donut. Yum!
Go back in time with Ancestry.com. Want to research your family history? Save 30 percent on a year membership with the ultimate source for such.
Mail packages to grandkids and others via The UPS Store. This discount's especially helpful for long-distance grandparents. Get 15 percent off eligible products and services (mailboxes, packing and moving supplies and more) and 5 percent off domestic and international shipping.
There's more... much more. Visit AARP Member Benefits for the full list of discounts, perks and benefits, or download the smartphone app for easy access. And considering an AARP membership is just $16 a year, one discount may be all it takes to pay you back the cost of membership.
Disclosure: I was a guest of AARP Member Advantages for the Life@50+ event. That doesn't diminish in any way the value of the awesome discounts offered. (And they did not pay me to say that.)
Today's question:
Which AARP discounts do you currently use... or might you be most likely to use?
