How many children do you have?

Six children

How many grandchildren do you have?

10 grandchildren — 36, 34, 25, 23, 21, 20, 19, 19, 17

Any great grandchildren?

We also have 2 great grandsons, both age 2.

What do your grandchildren call you?

They call me Queen or Mamaw.

How often do you get to see your grandchildren?

See them 2 or 3 times a year.

What is the best thing about being a grandma?

The respect and joy we have together.

What is the most challenging part of being a grandma?

Staying out of parental circle of discipline.

Describe a recent time that one (or more) of your grandchildren made you laugh out loud.

One day driving them in their new town I drove up on the median not knowing my way around the city.

What is your favorite thing to do with grandchildren who visit your house?

We talk about school and family plans.

Being shown their projects.

How do you maintain the bond between yourself and your grandchildren between visits?

Texting and Facebook.

What do you most want to pass along to your grandchildren?

Respect for themselves and other others.

What is one word you hope your grandkids think of when they think of you?

Tenderness

What one bit of advice would you give a new grandma?

To write them letters.

Is there anything else you would you like to add about being a grandmother?

I am always complaining about getting old but my daughter reminds me that if they didn't have me, how would they learn to be grandmothers.
