I'm off to Boston and Life@50+

I've never been to Boston. By the time you read this, though, that will have changed as I'm off to Boston early this morning.

Boston

AARP Member Advantages logoRemember last October when I attended the Life@50+ National Event in Atlanta... where I met and hugged Andy Garcia? Well, the wonderful folks at AARP Member Advantages who sent me to Atlanta are now sending me (all expenses paid!) to the Life@50+ event taking place May 8-10 in Boston. I am so excited!

There's so much to see and do at Life@50+ events. You can see the full schedule here, but there are a few special things I'm looking forward to.

First of all, I'll be meeting with key brands that partner with AARP Member Advantages to provide AARP members with great benefits. Brands I'll have the opportunity to discuss benefits for you and yours include:

I'll surely have more information on their great deals to share with you afterward.

Another highlight I look forward to: Attending as media — meaning, I should get some great photos and quotes to share with you — the opening show featuring a conversation between Laura Bush and Barbara Pierce Bush moderated by Soledad O'Brien. (Perhaps I'll get to interview Mrs. Bush and feature her as a Grilled Grandma. Ya never know!)

I also look forward to taking in as many films during the Movies for Grownups® Film Festival as I can fit in. In particular, I hope to catch a sure-to-be lovely flick starring Clive Owen and Juliette Binoche titled Words and Pictures.

Plus, as I've never been to Boston before, I'm delighted that AARP Member Advantages has provided me the opportunity to join a three-hour Boston trolley tour. Be prepared for lots of photos from this.

Be prepared for lots of photos from all of it, in fact. I'll be sharing as I can during the event, here as well as on Facebook and Twitter (so be sure to follow me on those sites). And if you're on Twitter, I'd love for you to attend a Twitter chat with the AARP Member Advantages gang and me from noon to 1 p.m. EST on Friday. Just follow the hashtag #TravelSkills where the theme will be all about "Living Your Travel Dreams." Be sure to follow the chat hosts, too: Chris McGinnis, travel blogger for the San Francisco Chronicle; and travel expert Johnny DiScala.

Speaking of the AARP Member Advantages "gang," my fellow participants are a group of midlife bloggers, many of whom you likely already know, follow and love:

Solo Travel Girl

My Itchy Travel Feet

The GypsyNester

Champagne Living

Better After 50

Retirement Media

Baby Boomer Places

Frugal Travel Guy

Life Is Cruising

Can you tell I'm excited?

Follow our group's conversations on the Twitter hashtag #AARPBos14,  plus AARP Member Advantages on Twitter and Facebook. Find out more on the Life@50+ event by following the #LifeAt50 hashtag and AARP National Event & Expo on Twitter and Facebook.

And, of course, you'll hear more from me on Facebook and Twitter throughout the event. I'll post much about the festivities here on Friday, as well. And please do come back here tomorrow to read a special guest post provided by fellow grandma blogger Miriam Hendeles. I have a feeling her words will resonate with many of you — especially those who have a daughters-in-law.

Cheers to a happy Wednesday! And if you're in Boston for the Life@50+ event, email me or tweet me to let me know and we'll figure out a spot to meet to say hello.

Today's question:

What are your favorite sites to see in Boston? Or those you'd like to see?
